certainly uncertain

do a day, and then repeat. do a week, and then repeat. get off work, have people over, go to bed. i am a creature of habit these days. rise at 5am, bed at 10pm. maybe 11:30pm if something unforseen happens, or if a conversation is especially good.

midnight? let's not get crazy.

it's actually tuesday, but feels like monday because yesterday was mlk day. i was weirded out all day, probably because i have become so intrenched in my ways, and was confused about not being at work on a monday. what a silly thing to waste a day off feeling out of synch.

ally and rocco came down to play yesterday. we went to chantilly park and threw the ball for the dogs, and then stopped by the friendly mart for push pops. it was slightly warm, but the afternoon had the feeling of summer. like we should've gone home and grilled out, and had all my windows open and laid around on lawn chairs on my patio, and spent the night slapping away mosquitoes.

isn't it fun to think about the next season? i love that in a few months, i'll be wishing for cold days piled under blankets, but for now, i look forward to springtime, and what comes with it-- a hogan baby.

a little suggestion:

i love how she talks about food and life, and how the two shape each other.

it's just about done.

right now, sara groves' new album is downloading on my computer. excited to listen to this as i catch you up on the last little stretch of life.

i worked about 17 hours yesterday, left work at midnight and was back at 7am, red-eyed with a red eye in my hand, oddly enough. thankfully, the babies have pre (pre pre) school today, and immediately after dropping them off i went and got a manicure and fell asleep while she was massaging my hands. i rationalized completely surrendering to it, and plopping my head on the arm rest directly in front of me. i didn't, but i should have.

then after that i may have surrendered to something different but equally recharging--shopping. got a few nice things for myself, and tried on those boots (jess, you know which ones i'm talking about), they're on a big sale right now. but THAT i could not rationalize:) shopping-yes, expensive boots kind of shopping-no. i'm no rockefeller.

also, i cut my hair the other day, that's all i am going to say. it's not good. but, i bought a cute hat yesterday, and have plenty of ponytail holders, so i'm set.

this next week is thanksgiving and i have mixed feelings about it. thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but it's coming too quickly. i need time to prepare for the pleasures in life. you know? like the drive is almost always the best part of the trip (unless you have kids, i guess?). or like december 1-24 is so much better than december 25. i am actually just confused about where november went. the days probably just sunk right down into packing, cleaning, moving, nesting, working.

today, i go pick up rocco from al's house, and he will be staying with beulah and me this week. rocco is ally's dog, and beulah's best friend, so the two of them will definitely be keeping me busy. my mom is also coming up saturday night after dog work, which will be great. she hasn't seen the new place yet, and we'll take the dogs on a few walks and hopefully eat some good food, and she has never been to the uptown campus either, so i'll take her there as well.

then sunday night: quality time with my ladies while watching some vampires run around.

it will be a good weekend, i dare say.

i hope that this weekend before thanksgiving is restful for you all, and that your hearts are prepared for family and food, parades and pies, shopping and sleep.

i love you people, and i'm thankful i have the chance to.

[go buy sara groves' new album, you will not regret it. here's a taste]

singleton

my parents came up for a short visit this weekend.

when i was talking with ally the next day, i was telling her that my mom had been asking if there were "any men in my life". we laughed, and she said, "oh it'll get better, just wait until they offer to pay for eharmony".

i will admit, turning 25 has put the fear of God in me a little. BUT, let's not get ahead of ourselves, i'm not an old maid.

maybe i have a portion of bridget jones in me, but not an old maid.

i'm content with my quiet little life.
but those that know me well, can always be on the lookout (awink).

boniver+hair

listening to blindsided by bon iver right now. [here you go, this song might make you cry] i love them for a sleepy thursday.  [nope, any day].  i'm getting my hair cut tomorrow.  so let's talk through it.  [the rest of this post may be hair related, just a warning].

here's where i'm at right now:

there's a weird tale on the back, you see it [no, not my foot]?  gotta fix that.  so here is what i'm thinking..

not much different, just a little shape-a-doo.

except the front will have to be altered some.  here's my what i'm thinking for the front:

deconstructed, messy, razored pieces.  my hair doesn't look good 'neat'.  i love michelle williams' style.  a LOT.

if you guys could take cues from any celebrity, regardless of face shape/length of hair/impracticality who would it be?

also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLY P!!!!!!

promise to wait while we're working it out

this week has been so jam-packed with goodness.  i am sitting at panera right now waiting for at&t to open next door.  my phone totally bit the dust this morning, so i am seriously contemplating an iphone purchase in about 15 minutes.  why bother getting another piece of garbage phone?  let's not play around.

work is going well, but i really was not expecting how much poop i would be dealing with.  let's be honest, babies poop a LOT.  and twins poop non-stop.  but i love those little nuts already, so it's okay.  but between a dog and two babies, i feel like poop is my actual job.

what else?  my dad came up and brought my temporary bed, which has been awesome.  no more air mattress for me!  we made a nice visit to big daddy's burgers on east boulevard that night, which was unspeakably good.

i made new friends this week!  the woodard family knows the connollys and have been so welcoming, and even let me hang out with their pup, tex, while they went camping this weekend.  we had a great time, and are having dinner together on tuesday, which i am really looking forward to.  more on carrie and her fam later.

my roommate ally and i had a nice lazy saturday yesterday, we went to freedom park and threw the ball for beulah, and then made a quick stop by the farmer's market.  in other news, i have started ally on 'freaks and geeks'.  i'll let you know if/when she gets hooked.

in other big news, i haven't even told y'all this.  the day my dad and i drove out of puyallup, one of my best friends, mary, sent me an email asking if she could buy me a plane ticket up to wisconsin for the end of april.  having no idea what type of job i would have, or where i would be in the moving process, i tentatively said 'yes', and prayed that things would fall into place.  and they have!

this trip is so special that i can hardly really explain it.  mary is my best friend from remuda ranch.  we arrived at the rehab facility (for eating disorders) 2 days apart, and spent most of our stay there together.  this month is our 2 year anniversary of going to remuda.  other best buddies from remuda are making the trip as well, kristen, carrie, and sarah will all be up at mary's house for a celebratory weekend.  i am so excited i can barely stand it.

i have only seen kristen briefly over christmas break, but i have not seen the other three sisters in TWO YEARS.

may 19 will be the anniversary of the day that i left remuda, and i think i would like to have a party this year.  just because God is so good.

okay, iphone anyone?
