Here's the thing, I never want to write a blog that just blandly states what I do or did on a certain day, that's no fun for anyone. And seeing as my days are rigorously scheduled, my "updates" would look like a study in Stepford Wife-esque behavior.
So, sometimes I've got nothing, most of the time I've got nothing.
Like right now, I can't get the friggin cable to work, and I put the babies down for a nap, and should go down and clean up from breakfast, but nope, I'm sitting here on my phone, talking to you about how I have nothing to say.
I need some spice in my life (as cjane would say). Right now I would even settle for a spicy meal. Anything other than barbeque. (Jared, come get some of that stuff).
I'm in a rut, but not even a bad one, just a comfortable one.
And no, I don't think I need a boyfriend to come pick me up out of my rut, if that's what you were thinking (Jessi:)).
I need to discover some more time in my day, or find more energy somehow to liven things up.
I need to go join the Y, which I've been saying I'm going to do for a month.
I need someone to salvage my hair from the abyss of suckiness, and I need to..
I don't know, join a tribal dance class or something..or maybe I do just need a boyfriend.
But, guitar players need not apply.

fourth, etc.
i do love the fourth of july. last year at this time, i had just taken on the challenge that is beulah hogan. i remember standing barefoot in front of our yellow house, after returning from the mariner's game, deafened by the fireworks all around our house, the way the sky lit up reminded me of d-day. you know, minus the troops invading, etc.
this year, i'm finding myself researching recipes from cuisinenie, just like always. can you have a fourth of july without peach cobbler? i think it's unavoidable. looking for a new and better recipe for that.
also, doesn't it feel like you have to make homemade ice cream? what do you usually have on the fourth of july?
i have some nap-refusing babies today. and just now i was listening to music, and felt on-edge. i think when they're "napping", i just need absolute silence. no music, no tv, or it's just too much. quiet. that's what i need.
alright, leigh just tagged me for a little meme thing. so here goes:
8 things to look forward to:
- fall
- growing my group of friends to include non-roommates and non-family members (not that i don't love ya, cause i do).
- getting settled in a new rental in a few months.
- taking a weekend trip somewhere very soon.
- oh, seeing the wedding pictures.
- weekends!!!
- nieces and nephews (yep, i said it)
- finding a man.
8 things i did yesterday:
- church
- made a roast beef/muenster cheese sandwich with my new favorite thing, wasabi mayo. really tasty.
- went shopping with ri
- chipotle for dinner.
- wii with our little sitcom fam (i do think that me, ally, emily, jared, maria and beulah would make for a terrific sitcom..)
- listened to 'turn my swag on' more times than i'd like to admit
- ohh, took a sweet nap.
- annnd? started sweating trying to get my enormous power steering fluid lacking suv out of the target parking garage.
8 things i wish i could do:
- travel easier (no financial/work/pet complications..just go)
- buy a new car
- dance really well. like dancing with the stars, make people cry dance.
- meet benjamin.
- find a new roommate.
- spin class.
- grow my hair out extremely fast.
- have some land.
8 shows that i enjoy:
[we don't have tv in our house right now, like no channels, but i do have netflix/ally's wii, so we're not deprived. but i'll list the last 8 movies from my netflix que.]
- revolutionary road
- twilight
- the wrestler
- spellbound
- grace is gone
- frost/nixon
- borat
- rachel getting married
and there you go, way more than you were interested in knowing.
goodbye.

bonus.
being a nanny gives me glimpses of what my future may look like. what i hope my future will look like. [me ever finding a quirky-doesn't-take-himself-too-seriously-Jesus-follower-that thinks-i'm-the-greatest kinda guy is seeming more impossible, but i'm keeping hope alive, and that's another post, for another time].

i ventured out with the babes today, like we do most days. things are getting more complicated though, the hotter it gets here in charlotte. and shuttling two babies in and out of the car in the heat will make you want to die. not even to mention the double stroller. seen here:

this thing will own you.
the other day, all i wanted was a passion tea from starbucks while we were out, but actually couldn't fathom doing the whole in/out of the car scenario one more time that day. my shirt was already stuck to my back from the last twin load up. in desperation i turned to twitter, to see if anyone knew of a starbucks drive thru, no luck.
moving on, today i met my roommate emily, maria, and jared at cabo fish taco. i'd never been there, and should have done a little more research, because that place is not baby friendly.
it all started with the stroller getting stuck trying to get through the front door, and it didn't help things when i knocked my entire glass of water all over baby 2. like a rushing wave of water directly in her lap. she cried, and was soaked for the rest of lunch, but we survived.
none of us talked to each other the entire lunch, we just watched them make funny faces, and steal food from my plate when i wasn't looking. but that's okay, because they're so awesome. and they're not even my babies. most days being with them just makes me excited to love someone enough to marry them, and then we get to have these fun little things together? bonus. big bonus.
the future looks fun, and in those dreams, i won't clock out at 5:45pm:)

Wednesday
I got this new application on my phone that supposedly publishes blogs more easily from your phone. Now, I only get the free applications, so this one sort of sucks. Like the other night it published one I was on the middle of typing. Sheesh.
We just had breakfast, I've started putting all the babies' food on their trays and letting them go for it with their fork or spoon. They're at that really fun place where they do or say something totally new every day. It's sweet.
Anyway, not much in the way of a life update, besides setting off my car alarm for the second morning in a row, and having a dog run at Beu and I this morning as we walked to the car, which then caused poor Beu to pee on my foot. Which all happened WHILE my alarm was going off. Comical.
I'm going to my first community group tonight. Nervous/excited about that. I equally love and hate walking into a situation where you know no one. It feels like I do it a lot, I'm ready to walk on a room and have people know me.
Almost nap time for the babes, and I will be sleeping too, hopefully.
Also, praying for my goddaughter (love saying that) today. Sweet Gloriana is having surgery today to remove the cyst near her eye. Prayers for all the Connollys appreciated. I miss those nuts. And want to watch Happy Feet with E, and have him help me bake something, and wrestle on the floor with Glor (presurgery) and spoil her with whatever her favorite food is (post surgery).
Okay, I'm out.

under pressure
i blog best when i am in a time crunch, it seems. like right now for instance, i am quickly approaching the end of the twins' lunch time, and the definite end of their patience with being in their high chairs, which means i have to type and type fast.
life has been decent this week, sort of an in-between week, hold on, fig newton to tide them over. it worked..for now.
yeah, i wish i had more to tell you. i somehow survived getting no sleep on sunday night (well, 2 hours), and drove straight to work on monday morning. that whole day i was still running on pure adrenaline, red bull, and explosive anger. but tuesday the fatigue hit me like a punch to the face (i almost said 'boob', but that's not what a lady would say, so i won't).
hold on, giving them a wagon wheel snack.
so this week has flown by, but i will have to post a detailed version of both my trip, and my experience getting home from said trip. funny how victorious i sounded after my last post, just to be humbled and totally tested like an hour later. hmm, interesting how that happens.
okay, the babies are no longer fooled, they know i'm blogging and frankly, they don't like it. blame them.
good weekend to you all!

promise to wait while we're working it out
this week has been so jam-packed with goodness. i am sitting at panera right now waiting for at&t to open next door. my phone totally bit the dust this morning, so i am seriously contemplating an iphone purchase in about 15 minutes. why bother getting another piece of garbage phone? let's not play around.
work is going well, but i really was not expecting how much poop i would be dealing with. let's be honest, babies poop a LOT. and twins poop non-stop. but i love those little nuts already, so it's okay. but between a dog and two babies, i feel like poop is my actual job.
what else? my dad came up and brought my temporary bed, which has been awesome. no more air mattress for me! we made a nice visit to big daddy's burgers on east boulevard that night, which was unspeakably good.
i made new friends this week! the woodard family knows the connollys and have been so welcoming, and even let me hang out with their pup, tex, while they went camping this weekend. we had a great time, and are having dinner together on tuesday, which i am really looking forward to. more on carrie and her fam later.
my roommate ally and i had a nice lazy saturday yesterday, we went to freedom park and threw the ball for beulah, and then made a quick stop by the farmer's market. in other news, i have started ally on 'freaks and geeks'. i'll let you know if/when she gets hooked.
in other big news, i haven't even told y'all this. the day my dad and i drove out of puyallup, one of my best friends, mary, sent me an email asking if she could buy me a plane ticket up to wisconsin for the end of april. having no idea what type of job i would have, or where i would be in the moving process, i tentatively said 'yes', and prayed that things would fall into place. and they have!
this trip is so special that i can hardly really explain it. mary is my best friend from remuda ranch. we arrived at the rehab facility (for eating disorders) 2 days apart, and spent most of our stay there together. this month is our 2 year anniversary of going to remuda. other best buddies from remuda are making the trip as well, kristen, carrie, and sarah will all be up at mary's house for a celebratory weekend. i am so excited i can barely stand it.
i have only seen kristen briefly over christmas break, but i have not seen the other three sisters in TWO YEARS.
may 19 will be the anniversary of the day that i left remuda, and i think i would like to have a party this year. just because God is so good.
okay, iphone anyone?

i can't even tell you
how much has changed since my last post.
last time i wrote, i was laying around at my parent's unmotivated to finish packing up my car. well, the rest of monday picked up a good bit. including being surprise-hired by the nanny mama who turned me down the night before. confused? yes, so was i.
so, i drove up here monday night, saw jared briefly and ate mcdonald's with him, on his way back to savannah from working in charlotte for the day. got to the house, unpacked my little bit of stuff, and settled in. tuesday and wednesday i only worked half-days with the kids (11 month old twins) so that i could get my life under control, and also train with the outgoing nanny.
today is my first day flying solo. so far, so good. they are busy little bees. but we're having fun.
they're napping right now, and without internet at our house, this will most likely become my blogging time. i am quite tired after a busy week. but feel energized by the change, if you'd asked me two days ago how i was doing, i might have started crying. but today, i am feeling peaceful. you know those times in life (and maybe this is just me) where you can't really listen to anything but worship music, just to help you make it through the day? that's where i've been, just sort of grasping at whatever i can get a hold of.
love to each of you, going to sip on some coffee and enjoy the rest of the quieeeeeetttt.
